Best Time to Visit Vietnam

What Is the Best Time to Visit Vietnam? - November to April

For most regions in Vietnam, the period from November to April of the following year is the most ideal travel window. During this time, all the climate conditions are friendly, excellent for various outdoor sightseeing.

First, the temperature during this period is relatively mild. There is neither bone-chilling cold nor scorching heat. Even in the coldest January, the minimum temperature in most areas does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit). A windbreaker is enough to keep out the chill. In the warmer months of March and April, the daytime highs rarely exceed 35℃ (95 ℉). In the morning and evening, the temperature across the country basically maintains below 28℃ (82℉). At this time, strolling along the ancient streets is pleasant, and there is no need to worry about sweating profusely.

Meanwhile, this period is neither the rainy season nor the typhoon season. There is very little chance of continuous rain or extreme weather, so you can rest assured - your itinerary is barely likely to be disrupted.

Finally, the UV index is basically at 7 to 10 during this period. Compared with the extremely strong radiation that often exceeds 12 in the summer months of July and August, the possibility of sunburn has been significantly reduced. Nevertheless, even so, it is still essential to take comprehensive sun protection measures.

Slack Season in Vietnam

The period from May to October is the slack season for tourism in Vietnam. During this time, the temperature is high, and the rainfall is concentrated. Moreover, typhoons may occur occasionally.

However, if you plan to tour Vietnam during this period, there is no need to be overly worried. For heat avoidance, stay indoors during the scorching midday hours; most of the rain is short and intense, so just take shelter for a while and it won’t completely disrupt your plans; even if a typhoon strikes, it usually passes within 1 - 2 days, and you can still enjoy your tour afterwards.

Besides, this period has its unique advantages: air tickets and hotel prices are cheaper, and it is the harvest season for tropical fruits, allowing you to enjoy a variety of fresh fruits at reasonable prices. Overall, it can be regarded as an ideal choice for a cost-effective trip.
