Hakone Tozan Trains & Bus
Hakone owns convenient public vehicles, including Hakone Tozan Train, Hakone Cable Car, Hakone Ropeway, Hakone Pirate Ship, Hakone Tozan Bus which includes 8 lines, Sightseeing Bus (2 lines), Odakyu Highway Bus, and Tokai Bus. You can visit most attractions in Hakone by taking them. The routes of different vehicles may overlap and it’s easy to choose other transportation tools when traveling. In addition, some services can be enjoyed such as leaving your luggage at the station office or lending a wheelchair.

Hakone Tozan Train
Hakone Tozan Train starts from Hakone-Yumoto Station and ends at Gora Station. The operation time of the Tozan Train begins at about 6 a.m. and ends later than 10 p.m. The Train would run past the Okada Museum of Art and Hakone Open Air Museum. You can buy tickets at the starting or terminal station.

Hakone Cable Car
Hakone Cable Car’s starting station and terminal station are separate Gora Station and Sōunzan Station. You can take it from 8: 45 a.m. to 5:55 p.m.

Hakone Ropeway
From 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Hakone Ropeway travels from Sōunzan Station to Togendai Station, among which you would pass by Owakudani Valley. The Ropeway route has 2 sections: from Sōunzan Station to Ōwakudani Station, and from Ōwakudani Station to Togendai Station.

Hakone Pirate Ship
Hakone Pirate Ship runs among Togendai, Hakonemach-ko, and Motohakne-ko. It will take you about 30 minutes to finish a one-way journey. In winter, more time would be needed.

Hakone Bus
Hakone Tozan Train, Cable Car, Railway, and Pirate Ship can help you visit the majority of attractions in Hakone. While the lines of Hakone Bus overlap a large part of Hakone railways, you can also take a bus to appreciate the attractions except those between Gora Station and Togendai Station. In addition, taking buses may take you to some other attractions that railways can’t, including Hakone Venetian Glass Museum and Pola Museum of Art.

The route of Hakone buses is like a circle and thus can be divided into four parts: from Hakone-Yumoto to Gora, from Gora to Togendai, from Togendai to Hakonemachi-ko, and from Hakonemachi-ko to Hakone-Yumoto.
1. Hakone-Yumoto – Gora
The main buses run between the section include Kanko Shisetsu-Meguri Bus Togendai Gora Line, Gotemba Line, Togendai Line and Togendai Line (for Pola-bijutsukan), and Hakone-Yumoto/Outlets Line. Along the route, you will pass by the Hakone Open Air Museum and Okada Museum of Art.2. Gora – Togendai
Between this section, Kanko Shisetsu-Meguri Bus, Togendai Gora Line, Gotemba Line, Togendai Line and Togendai Line (for Pola-bijutsukan), and Hakone-Yumoto/Outlets Line would run here and would pass by Gora Park, Pola Museum of Art, Hakone Venetian Glass Museum, Hakone “Rene Lalique” Museum.

3. Togendai – Hakonemachi-ko
Odakyu Highway Bus, Tokai Bus, Hakonemachi Line, Hakone Shindo Line and run between Togendai and Hakonemachi-ko and the pass-by attractions include Lake Ashi, Hakone Shrine, Narukawa Art Museum and Hakone Checkpoint.4. Hakonemachi-ko – Hakone-Yumoto

The prices of part of the below passes vary according to the departure station and the below takes Shinjuku Station as the departure station. You can buy these passes online, in Odawara, at each Odakyu Line station, or at the ticket offices of Hakone’s bus stations and bus stops.1. Hakone Freepass
You can take the Odakyu Line from any station to Odawara Station, take designated public vehicles in Hakone for free, and have discounts on tickets to about 70 attractions in the restricted time. The Pass has a 2-day version and a 3-day version. For example, for a 2-day pass, it charges each adult 6,100 yen and each child 1,100 yen.2. Hakone Tozan Train 1-Day Pass
You can take the Tozan Train from Odawara Station to Gora Station for free many times in a day and visit Gora Park for free with this pass. Each adult needs to pay 1,580 yen and each child 500 yen for the Pass.3. Owakudani 2-Day Pass
With an Owakudani 2-Day Pass, you can travel between Odawara Station and Ōwakudani Station by taking Tozan Train, Cable Car, and a part of the Ropeway (from Sounzan Station to Owakudani Station) many times within the valid time of the Pass. It charges each adult 5,180 yen and each child 1,080 yen.4. Tozan Bus/Sightseeing Cruise ASHINOKO 2-Day Pass
This Pass charges each adult 4,980 yen and each child 1,080 yen. With it, you can take below vehicles:

The Discount Passes above do not include the extra fees to take Roomancecar and some only allow visitors to travel from the departure station to Odawara Station once, so please check the official website in advance.

2. Wheelchair renting or lending service
If you need a wheelchair, you can rent or lend one at Hakone-Yumoto Station, Gora Station, any station of the Ropeway, and the three ports the Sightseeing Cruise stops by. Some stations charge some fees, while others do not. Visitors can take some public vehicles in wheelchairs, including the Ropeway and Sightseeing Cruise.3. Luggage storage
You can leave your luggage at the coin lockers or the station office at the Ropeway, Togendai Port, and Monohakone-ko. It charges you some fees.Tips
1. The transferring time among Tozan Train, Cable Car, and Ropeway may differ uncertainly, so check the timetable in advance.
2. For extreme weather conditions, including heavy fog or strong wind, the Ropeway and Sightseeing Cruise would stop serving or be suspended. Before you arrive, please check the weather or you can refund unwanted tickets
