Bengali usually celebrate Holi in the twelfth month of the Hindu calendar. In 2025, the festival would be celebrated from March 13 - March 14. Holi is also known as the "Festival of Colors". The purpose is to celebrate the beginning of the spring with an explosion of color. Bengalis believe that fire can burn evil spirits, so on the eve of Holi, people light bonfires in a ritual called Holika Dahan, singing and dancing around the bonfires to gain peace. The next day, the "Festival of Colors" begins. You can join the locals in a paint fight. Everyone throws paint powder or water at each other and dances to the beat of wooden drums. Later, you can also enjoy traditional Bengali food such as guijiya, a nut-filled pancake, and a milkshake-like drink made of cannabis.
On this day, major Hindu temples celebrate Puja. You can visit the Adinath Temple at Cox's Bazar to enjoy authentic Hindu prayers and songs. Situated on the top of a small hill, it is rich in religious heritage and boasts picturesque natural scenery.
Once in Cox's Bazar, Cox's Bazar Sea Beach is a must-visit destination close to Adinath Temple. You can enjoy sunbathing, surfing, and swimming here, while the sunny weather and warm water in March are suitable.
