Chittorgarh Fort - The Largest Fort in India

India’s most massive Fort Chittorgarh Fort is situated upon the banks of Rivers Berach and Gambheri. Listed in UNESCO’s World Heritage Site, this place has a rich and glorious history of Rajput. With seven gates namely Hanuman gate, Padan gate, Jodla gate, Ganesh gate, Bhairon gate, Lakshman gate, and Ram gate, two towers, and 65 structures, this beautiful and extensive structure spread over 700 acres and it has a total of 22 water reservoirs which contains at least 4 billion litres of water. Chittorgarh Fort has massive 546 yards tall protecting walls that are built by lime mortar. The prominent structure of this fort makes it most attractive and most visited.

•    Rana Kumbha Palace

This is the most important and oldest palace in the Fort, which is dedicated to the first Mewar ruler and owner of the Fort, Rana Kumbha. In the cellars at the base of the Palace, Rani Padmavati committed Jauhar with the Rani Karnavati and wives of other warriors. The entry of this Palace is from Suraj Gate. This Palace includes the temple of Lord Shiva and elephants and hours stables. Rana Kumbha Palace built by using plastered stones that have beautiful canopied balconies. •   Fateh Prakash Palace

This splendid Palace is the epitome of modern architecture which name after Maharana Fateh Singh. Along with the idol of Lord Ganesh and fountain, this Palace has an array of wall paintings and murals. Fateh Prakash Palace is now a famous museum where you can see fantastic architecture and also can know about Rajput history. This is one of the most essential attractions of Chittorgarh Fort. This museum has magnificent sculptures, paintings, and historical artifacts.

•   Rani Padmini Palace

Rani Padmini Palace is located in the midst of the Chittorgarh Fort, which named after queen Padmini of Chittorgarh. For her impeccable beauty and intelligence, she was known throughout India. You will also get to know the stories of this brave queen who defense the palace when the Fort was under siege by Alauddin Khilji, the Sultan of Delhi. During the reign of Ratan Singh, the palace was decorated with beautiful Rajput paintings. Queen Padmini committed Jauhar after the battle of Chittorgarh Fort.

•   Kirti Stambh

Kirti Stambh is 72 feet high tower built in the 12th century, which is also known as the Tower of Fame. This Stambh has six floors and 54 steps, which are decorated with Jain inscriptions and sculptures. Kirti Stambh is dedicated to first Jain Tirthankara – Adinath. The narrow stairways go through the tower from the base to the top. 24-yard-high, 30 feet wide tower shows the glory of Jainism.

•   Vijay Stambh

Vijay Stambh or Tower of Victory is taller of two towers, which was built in 1440 AD. The reason to build this tower is an honor of Maharana Kumbha's victory over Mohamed Khilji. It is an imposing structure of achievement showcasing the power of the Mewar royalty. These 122 feet high structure take a decade to complete, which has nine floors with a circular stairwell of 157 steps. You can see the beautiful view from the balconies of Vijay Stambh. Just enjoy the mesmerizing effect and the views from the top angle view of the town.
