Ocean Park

The escalator in the Ocean Park, Hong Kong

Ocean Park, one of the most popular theme parks in the world, brings happiness and laughter to millions of tourists every year. Built around a mountain, it covers an area of over 215 acres.

The park has two entrances, Wong Chuk Hang and Tai Shue Wan. In the park, 40 or so attractions are scattered on the Headland and Lowland Gardens. A cable car links the two parts.

Attractions on the headland include Atoll Reef, Ocean Theater, Wave Cove and Ride Games. The Lowland Gardens include Water World, Garden Theatre, Goldfish Pagoda, and Middle Kingdom. The Middle Kingdom, imitating antique architecture, reflects Chinese history and reproduces ancient Chinese street scenes. Giant pandas An An and Jia Jia presented by the Chinese central government are extremely popular.

Since the inauguration of the park in 1977, Ocean Park has had its facilities improved and has established some new features, including Pacific Pier, Mine Train, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Giant Panda Habitat and the Flying Swing. Another exciting new ride, Abyss Turbo Drop, raises you up to a height of 185 feet, and after a short stop, drops you straight down in an exciting freefall.

From July 17 to August 31 each summer, the Ocean Park Summer Special is held in the park. You can drive a bumper boat in the spraying water, or start a water fight with friends. Furthermore, you can see the Fashion Show performed by the sea lion, the mascot of the Ocean Park.
