Guwahati to Shillong Road Trip

Sightseeing Activities: After breakfast, your guided Shillong tour will begin. We’ll first visit the Mary Help of Christians Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Mary, the primary worship church for Shillong Catholics. Next, we will head to the Lady Hydari Park, where you will be entertained by the cute animals and pretty flowers. Afterwards, we will proceed to the Wards Lake (closed on Tuesday), a must-see destination in Shillong. Also known as the Pollock Lake, this artificial lake features peaceful water and wide gardens covered with vibrant greenery. You can feed the fish on the elegant wooden bridge, and round off Shillong sightseeing in a pleasant atmosphere.

In the afternoon, we’ll travel to Cherrapunjee by private car. On the way, we will make a stop at the Elephant Falls, one of the most famous waterfalls in north east India. The elephant-like rock at the bottom and the three-tiered waterfall will make your visit worthwhile.

Sightseeing Activities: After breakfast, our guide will lead you to visit the Arwah Cave, a massive cave famous for the marvelous stalactites and stalagmites. Next, we will explore another popular cave – the Mawsmai Cave, which features natural limestone formations, all in amazing shapes. Afterwards, we will admire the highest waterfall in India – the Nohkalikai Falls, the Eco Park on a hilltop, the Seven-sister Falls with seven sections, and the Dain-Thlen Falls.

In the afternoon, the guide will show you more intoxicating landscapes, including the Thankarang Park close to the Indo-Bangla border where you can enjoy a distant view of Bangladesh and splendid waterfalls, and the Koh Ramhah, a large conical rock allowing you to gulp the beauty of the Sylhet Plains. In the evening, our guide will escort you back to the hotel in Cherrapunjee.

Sightseeing Activities: In the morning, we will travel 3 hours by our private car to Mawlynnong, which is known as the ‘Cleanest Village in India’. In addition to the fresh air, you will be treated to spectacles of the huge Living Root Bridge and the extraordinary balance of a boulder on a small rock, which is totally a natural wonder.

After visiting this beautiful village, we will continue our drive to Dawki. At the border area, the clear emerald rivers and endless green mountains will make you intoxicated. In the end, we will drive to the hotel in Shillong for the night.

Sightseeing Activities: After breakfast, we will travel to Mawphlang by a 1.5 hours' drive. Upon arrival, we will first arrange a special Sacred Grove hike for you. Our guide will take you to go through dense rainforest and pass the clear streams while telling wonderful local mythical stories along the way. Later, we will proceed to Mawsynram, where there is the famous the colossal stalagmite in the shape of ‘Shivalinga’, a symbol of Lord Shiva. Finally, the guide will lead you to explore the narrow Mawjymbuin Cave, featuring unique stone formation with interesting shapes. In the evening, we will get back to Shillong.

Sightseeing Activities: Today, we will set off to Jowai by a 3-hour drive. On the way, the guide will lead you to see the 500-year-old Nartiang Durga Temple where you will learn about Goddess Durga, and the Nartiang Monolith which was built in 1500 AD to commemorate the victory of a war. On arrival in Jowai, we will first enjoy the fascinating landscape of the Thadlaskein Lake, with clean water and fresh grassland around. Next, we will drive 2 hours to the last stop of the day - the Krang Suri Falls, the top attraction in Jowai. The white ribbon-like waterfall and the blue ponds surrounded by verdant bush should be a captivating scenery that you never want to miss.

Private Car Transfer to Guwahati (103 km; 3 hours): After breakfast, we will check out from the hotel and set out for Guwahati. Before noon, we will reach the hotel in Guwahati and check in.

Afternoon Sightseeing: After lunch, the guide will take you to visit the Kamakhya Temple, one of the most popular sites in Guwahati. As one of the most ancient Shakti Peethas, holy places for worshipping Goddess Shakti, it is popular among the local devotees.

★ Special Experience: Before dark, we will reach the final stop of the day – the Brahmaputra River. Its boundless and tranquil surface offers the best view of the sunset. You could make a payment on site to enjoy a cruise with poetic scenery.
