Delhi, the national capital, is home to numerous Mughal-era forts and monuments. However, Mughals had an eternal love for gardens and fountains, and built extravagant little spaces throughout the city. The Mughal Gardens, inspired from these structures, covered in cypress vines, fountains, climbing rose bushes, and bougainvillea sections.

Close to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the garden during the flowering season comes alive with thousand flowering blooms. Spread over the area of 13 acres, the entire space is just beautiful for a nice time with the family.

Structure of the Garden

Also known as the soul of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the garden was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. According to some records, Mughal Gardens in Jammu and Kashmir were the inspiration behind the structure. The entire complex is surrounded by numerous structures in different themes – herbal, bonsai, circular, musical, tactile.

The rectangular garden, one of the main venues of the entire garden complex, is the place for important celebrations like Independence Day or Republic Day. Long Garden has beautiful walls covered in beautiful vines making the space look more elongated.

Circular orchards house beautiful bubble fountain cleverly hidden under a circular pond, giving the waterbody a rather interesting feature. Interestingly, there is a distillation plant for essential and herbal oils.

The Musical Garden is located close to President's Estate, the place has three large fountains that work on electromagnetism, hydro dynamics, digital electronics and hydrostatics. The entire fountain schedule is maintained by computer software.

1. Since the garden is located inside a protected national monument, so you can expect lot of security.
2. Visitors are not allowed to take water bottles, fast food, radio, camera and mobile phones.
3. Some of the important exhibits of the garden include spring flower beds, the exclusive collection of roses, and exotic plant collection.
4. Littering is punishable offence, and not encouraged.
