Tokyo DisneySea

Opened in 2001, Tokyo DisneySea located in Maihama boasts the first and only Disney theme park based on stories and legends about the sea. Full of imagination, Tokyo DisneySea is composed of 7 themed zones with beautiful sets and fancy restaurants lined with the theme, covering a total area of more than 176 acres. With the theme of ‘imagination and adventure set sail’, the nautical wonderland collects sea legends and stories about the sea in ancient and modern countries around the world, making a magic world come true.

As one of the most popular Disney theme parks in the world, Tokyo Disney Sea is suitable for all-age visitors but it is especially alluring for adults and teenagers who love more about exciting adventures and thrilling rides. Of course, visitors will also be warmly greeted by Mickey and his friends.

7 Themed Zones

Mediterranean Harbor

The V-shaped Mediterranean Harbor is themed a port town in Southern Europe, and its style refers to some Mediterranean locations during the Renaissance period, such as Porto Fino in northwest Italy, Cinque Terre, the canals of Venice, and fortifications on the coasts of Portugal and Spain. A little similar to the World Bazaar in Disneyland, the harbor focuses more on a dozen of colorful stores and several tasty restaurants rather than entertainment. At present, this zone has 5 attractions: DisneySea Transit Steamer Line; Soaring: Fantastic Flight; Fortress Explorations; Venetian Gondolas; and Fortress Explorations “The Leonardo Challenge”. It is possible to take a steamer cruise leisurely on DisneySea Transit Steamer Line to explore the Lost River Delta. Boys will surely love Fortress Explorations where they can maneuver cannons and various navigational tools from an observatory overlooking all sides.

American Waterfront

The American Waterfront is based on the theme of the harbor in the United States in the early 20th century, recreating the city streets, villages, and the New York Harbor at that time. The most remarkable landmark in this zone is the S. S. Columbia cruise, which serves as a dining place and the backdrop of stage shows. Though it is not a cruise that can sail, it is worth exploring and enjoy a meal on it. It also features Turtle Talk, a theater type attraction on S. S. Columbia, where children can have conversations with the sea turtle Crush. The Tower of Terror is another highlight in this zone, offering an extremely terrifying experience as a drop tower hides inside. Travelers can also experience Toy Story Mania. By the way, DisneySea Transit Steamer Line and DisneySea Electric Railway are also operated to send you to other theme zones.

Port of Discovery

With only 3 attractions, Port of Discovery features a future urban city design, a little similar to the Tomorrowland in Tokyo Disneyland. Among them, Aquatopia attracts more audience as the three-person watercraft operates on water in unpredictable directions and even swirls around, offering an interesting experience. Another must-try is Nemo & Friends SeaRider. It is a good chance for those who love Finding Dory including Destiny as here they can meet Nemo, Dory and other popular characters from the film, and explore the magic sea world with them together. Travelers can also take a shiny trolley along the DisneySea Electric Railway to the theme zone of American Waterfront.

Lost River Delta

Deeply influenced by Indiana Jones movies, Lost River Delta is set in a remote area, covered by the jungles of South America. Here you can feel the lush, isolated, and mysterious atmosphere and there is a towering Aztec pyramid in the heart of the area. This is in fact one of the most popular attractions in Tokyo DisneySea, Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull, featuring a thrilling high speed ride. Want to experience the most exciting roller coaster in the theme park? Then you cannot miss the attraction Raging Spirit. Its biggest feature is a 360-degree loop and the strong g-forces will be felt as you go through it. For those who are not interested in thrilling roller coasters, they can enjoy beautiful natural views at an observatory on the left side. What’s more, you can enjoy a joyful water adventure during the day or in the evening by the DisneySea Transit Steamer Line.

Arabian Coast

The magic zone is created according to the Disney film Aladdin and exotic details can be seen everywhere. At Caravan Carousel, you can ride a carousel with beautiful design, featuring some exotic beasts and the mysterious Genie of the Lamp. Jasmine’s Fly Carpets are also worth a try, making you soar over and down and spin around the Jasmine's garden. The Magic Lamp Theater offers humorous and interesting shows while Sindbad’s Storybook Voyage takes you an adventurous sail journey, one of the best sea journeys in the DisneySea Park.

Mermaid Lagoon

Mermaid Lagoon is especially suitable for children. It contains all the perfect elements of a family trip and 7 attractions are included. This zone is completely built on the basis of the Disney film ‘The Little Mermaid’. Composed of an indoor area and an outdoor area, the beautiful underwater kingdom is full of enjoyment. The undersea world is home to Ariel, the Little Mermaid, where kids can take part in a lot of interesting activities, like playing games, searching for treasures, and exploring the secret world of the little mermaid in Ariel’s Playground. It is also interesting for them to float up and down on a shell with their parents through the underwater in Jumpin’ Jellyfish. Spending time to enjoy a brilliant musical show with Ariel and her friends under the sea is also unmissable.

Mysterious Island

Welcome to Jules Verne’s magic world! Mysterious Island only has two attractions. Though the theme zone is the smallest, it can be travelers’ favorite theme zone thanks to the two big attractions and each attraction draws a lot of visitors to queue up. Mysterious Island also features a giant volcano, Mount Prometheus, which is just located at the center piece of the whole park. One of two attractions is 20,000 Leagues under the Sea, an indoor attraction featuring a simulated underwater world, where you can take a powerful submarine boat to search for the lost Atlantis civilization in the bottom of the ocean. The other one is Journey to the Center of the Earth, which offers subterranean vehicles to explore the unknown world inside the volcano. You can enjoy a thrilling ride with the volcano shaking and erupting.
