Nosy Be, located in the northwest part of Madagascar, is the largest island in the country and is known as one of the top 10 islands in the world. Nosy Be Top Attractions
Nosy Iranja is famous for its impressive 2-kilometer-long (1.2 miles) white sand beach which connects two sandbanks. Stepping on the top of the sandbank, you can enjoy amazing scenery integrating pure and blue seawater and the white sand beach. A complete view of the beach can be obtained only at low tide. As a habitat for marine turtles, Nosy Itanja is an ideal place to view these cute marine creatures at a close distance.
Lemuria Land is an ideal place for you to view lemurs. If you are an animal lover, this place will be your best destination to interact with turtles, chameleons, and crocodiles, too. Baby crocodiles also can be seen on the island.
Plenty of lemurs are well protected on Nosy Komaba, and you can take some fruit to feed them. You can take pictures with many other animals including turtles and chameleons. You also have chances to snorkel with whale sharks and climb on the summit of the highest mountain on the island to get a panoramic view.
4. Lokobe National Park
The Lokobe National Park is a natural habitat of more than 300 species of wildlife and various plants. Located in the southeast part of Nosy Be, the park is the only reserve and you can find the only primitive forest on the island. The evergreen forest provides a cozy home for black lemurs which are endemic to Madagascar. The park further attracts birds to live and multiply, and is definitely a paradise for animal and plant enthusiasts.
5. Nosy Fanihy
Located at the northern end of Nosy Be, Nosy Fanihy features beaches with the most original beauty. If you love diving, you cannot miss this place. Colorful and unique coral reefs can be found underwater. After that, you can enjoy tropical scenery with azure sky and lush trees. It’s seen as a holy island because of the king’s mausoleum.
6. Nosy Sakatia
Sea turtles and orchids are two highlights on the island of Nosy Sakatia. If you can snorkel, swimming with sea turtles will be the most interesting part of your tour here. In April and May, sea turtles lay their eggs on the bank and you can observe cute sea turtle babies at a close distance. Orchids blossom on the island, and you can also find medicinal plants.
