Where to Go in Mexico in August
Recommendation Rate:
Although August is not much of the best time to travel to Mexico due to high rainfall, you can still find interesting places to explore. For example, Baja California and Chiapas are destinations that are influenced little by hurricanes or floods.
1. Baja California
Baja California is a peninsula located in northwestern Mexico, and has many sunny days all year round. A little rain in August makes it an ideal vacation destination.
Los Cabos
Los Cabos is in the south of Baja California, renowned for its special scenery combined of desert, beaches and natural outcrops. Looking across the mountain at the beach must be a novel experience.
Cabo San Lucas
Cabo San Lucas is considered as the landmark of Los Cabos, known as the Gate of the Pacific. It is actually a huge cliff standing at the junction of the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez looking like a gate because of the long-term erosion and weathering by wind and waves.
2. Chiapas
Chiapas is located in the southeastern plain of Mexico, far from the sea and the rainfall there is moderate.

The height of the cliffs on both sides of the valley ranges from 200-700 meters (660-2300 feet), and the peak can reach 1,000 meters (3281 feet). The water in the valley is very clean, but there isn’t any kayak or boat for sightseeing because there are crocodiles and pythons. Surrounding the canyon is the Sumidero Canyon National Park that covers an area of 21,789 hectares (3590 acres).
