Trip Planning FAQs

How to travel around the Netherlands?
Most travelers go to the Netherlands only with a stop in Amsterdam, however, you should absolutely explore the Netherlands beyond Amsterdam. There are many cool cities, like Rotterdam, Hague, Utrecht and Maastricht. The Netherlands train network is efficient and fast, which can get you anywhere. As it is a relatively small country with short distances in between, you can reach lots of cities from Amsterdam in a day trip. In addition, the land is quite flat, so it is easy and fun to get around the cities by renting a bike.
What is the weather like and what clothes should I pack for a Netherlands tour?
The Netherlands has a temperate maritime climate, with cool summers and moderate winters. The temperatures in spring and autumn generally range between 10 - 20°C, so you'll mostly wear long trousers and a long-sleeved shirt. On a sunny day it can be pleasantly warm and sometimes Bermuda shorts or a skirt will do. If you plan to visit Holland in summer, you can expect a decent amount of sun and the temperatures exceed 20 to 25°C during the day. So pack shorts, T shirts, slippers and your bathing suit... The nights are still comfortable and usually not cold but you will still need something warmer, like a light jacket. During winter months, the temperatures often fall below freezing at night and during the day, it won't get warmer than 10°C or will remain below freezing. So bring warm clothes, pullovers, trousers, jacket, gloves, shawl, hat and warm shoes for really cold days.

And finally, whatever season you choose to visit Holland, there may always be rainy. A raincoat and boots can come in handy for a walk on the beach or in the forest.
How about the electricity in the Netherlands?
The voltage in the Netherlands is 230 volts and the frequency is 50 Hz. Plug and socket types C and F are the official standards, standardizing on the German plug and socket system. So visitors from the UK, Ireland, Australia, Switzerland and other countries need to bring a plug adaptor.
What about Dutch Food in the Netherlands?
There are lots of great international restaurants in the Netherlands. Indonesian food is one of the most popular dishes in the Netherlands. If you're looking for traditional Dutch food, pancakes are something you should try. There are many delicious street snacks in the Netherlands, such as French fries (mayonnaise), herring, or meatballs. If you see a food market, check it out, because you can try lots of local foods there. Dutch food is very similar to German food, with lots of meat and potatoes.
Any tipping suggestion for Holland tours?
