Trip Planning FAQs
How can I arrange my airport transfer, by taxi or bus?
The taxi costs much more in Norway, so we suggest you take the airport shuttle bus, and there are many departure points in each city with reasonable price. The airport express - Flytoget is another good choice in Oslo.
Do I have to buy a pocket Wi-Fi or a phone card, and how is the signal in mountains?
Pocket Wi-Fi is expensive and needs to be charged from time to time. We suggest you buy a prepaid phone card in Norway, it contains a certain amount of data traffic and free to call or send SMS to Norway phone numbers with fairly good signals at places where people live. Two operators are recommended: NetCom and Chess. Their cards can be bought at NetCom shops, Narvesen shops and all 7-11 Convenience Stores.
What is the best time to travel?
May to October is the best time to visit the fjords of Norway. Among those, June to August is the high season, while the rest of the months are also very good with dazzling scenery and less crowds.
September to April is perfect time to chase the aurora borealis dancing in the northern part of Norway.
Which App is helpful to foresee the northern lights?
AuroraAlerts. It can tell you when the aurora will be strong, and the local real-time situation, short-term forecast, as well as the exact time of sunrise and sunset.
If you have free time in Oslo and Bergen, we recommend the following two APPs, bus, light rails and cruise information can be checked. RuterBillet in Oslo and SkyssBillet in Bergen.
When I take the Norway in a Nutshell, do I need to take my luggage along the way?
