Ship Transit at Miraflores Locks, Panama
After the canal tour, today we will continue to explore Panama City, which is a fascinating melange of tradition and modernity. Today’s first stop is
Amador Causeway, a popular and scenic causeway along the canal stretching to the Pacific Ocean. Here is the best place to enjoy a morning stroll. Then we will head to Panama City Old Town -
Casco Viejo (San Felipe). The UNESCO-listed district is the most atmospheric neighborhood of the city with centuries-old churches, top restaurants, fancy bars, and cozy coffee shops, making many people lingering. Strolling in Casco’s narrow cobble street, you can take in various Spanish-era architecture and visit
France Square. Next, we will continue to see
Bridge of the Americas, the first bridge to cross the Panama Canal.
After lunch, we will head to the star attraction of Panama, the
Panama Canal. Go to the
Miraflores Visitor Center, which offers a unique canal viewing experience different from seeing on the cruise. Standing on the observation deck, you will have a chance to see how mega ships transit through the legendary locks. Here you can also learn about the canal’s history and operation by a 3D movie. Finish visiting the spectacular canal locks, then we will go to
Panama Viejo, the first city established in the early 1500s of Spanish colonial rule. The remains were left after the pirates ransacked the city and you can enjoy a wonderful piece of history. At last, we'll explore the modern Panama City.
