Tiger Leaping Gorge
Tiger Leaping Gorge is famous for its steep peaks, deep gorges and torrential current. Meanwhile it is one of the deepest valleys in the world. It can be divided into three parts: the Upper Reach, the Middle Reach and the Lower Reach. The peaks on the both sides of the gorge are steep and dangerous, as if they were cut by the sword. Some of the rocks are purely white.
The width of the water surface of the Tiger Leaping Gorge is no more than 100 meters (about 109 yards), and the narrowest sections is only 30 meters (about 33 yards). Water rushes into the gorge from a higher place, and the river is like a dragon flying among the mountains. Sometimes there are rocks on the mountainside falling into the river. The small ones will be carried away by the water while the big ones will stay.
Although the Tiger Leaping Gorge is dangerous and brings much inconvenience to the water transportation, it really has a kind of irresistible beauty which attracts millions of fearless people.

First Bend of the Yangtze River
Jinsha River refers to the section in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. It is said that a long time ago people living along the river could get gold from the sand in the river. That's why river is called Jinsha River (Golden Sand River). It flows to Yunnan Province from Qinghai Province. Then it makes a sharp turn to the northeast in Stone Drum Town in Lijiang, thus the First Bend of the Yangtze River, a V shape bend, is formed. The current here is torrential, but it looks quiet, like a mirror, because of the vastness of the surface of the river. The trees are like shy girls, standing on both sides of the river; the clouds are against the blue sky, gleaming among the mountains; spectacular croplands and the little villages are in the distance. Everything here is wonderful and extremely attractive.
Stone Drum
Stone Drum Town is beside the First Bend of the Yangtze River. The reason for the name of the town is that there is a white marble monument in the shape of a drum in the town. Stone Drum Town was built against the mountain, thus it has great military significance. The history of the town is glistening, but the scenery here is beautiful and the products are abundant. The water, the valley, the terrace, the fruits, the wheat, and the village form an appealing picture that makes you not want to leave.

You can take special sight seeing buses to Stone Drum Town in every bus station in Lijiang City or you can choose the regular bus to get there.
