Delhi to Jaipur Road Trip? Don’t Miss These Spots

Although the Pink City Jaipur is well connected by road, rail, and flights, it is best to take a road trip from the capital city, Delhi. There are AC, Non- AC, private, and government buses running frequently between Delhi and Jaipur. Hiring a taxi is much preferred because it's convenient and comfortable.

Agra and Delhi are 281 km (175 mi) apart. The average time taken to from Delhi to Jaipur by road is 5 hours. The best time to visit Jaipur is anytime between October and March. Warm climate prevails here. The temperature ranges between 9 and 25 degrees. Summers are extremely hot and the scorching heat can come in the way of having fun. Winters last from October to March here and is the peak time for travelers to experience the beauty two major cities offer.

During your Delhi to Jaipur road trip, there are a few spots you can visit.

1. Kingdom of Dreams

Sprawled across acres of land in Gurugram, 38 km (24 mi) away from Delhi, the Kingdom of Dreams exhibits a wonderful blending of India’s art, culture, heritage and cuisine, a must-visit spot during Delhi to Jaipur road trip. The entertainment theatre and a popular tourist destination is well known for its live theatrical shows and remains closed on Mondays. The ticket price ranges from Rs 1,000 to Rs 4,000. Nautanki Mahal showcases theatrical musical, Culture Gully boasts about the rich culture, Showshaa Theatre is all about drama, mythology and circus. IIFA Buzz is a Bollywood themed cafe inspired by the great actors of Indian cinema.

2. Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary

The bird sanctuary located at a distance of 50 km (31 mi) from Delhi, is a home to over a hundred species of migratory birds that fly to Sultanpur to escape the harsh winter. It’s an absolute treat to the bird watchers to spot various species of resident and migratory birds. The park is open from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM and remains closed on Tuesdays. The entry fee is Rs. 5 per person for Indians and Rs. 40 per person for foreigners.

3. Neemrana Fort

Neemrana Fort, 150 km (93 mi) away from Jaipur, is the perfect place on the Delhi to Jaipur road trip for zip lining. The activity is for about 2.5 hours where one gets to slide around the magnificent fort. The Fort which is an amalgamation of ancient and modern culture is amidst greenery on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. The fort is now converted into a luxury heritage hotel. The timings to visit this heritage hotel is 9 AM to 3 PM. The ticket price that includes a delicious lunch buffet costs around Rs. 2,000. The palace gives you an opportunity to experience royalty at its best.

4. Siliserh Lake

Spread across 7 km (4 mi) in the outskirts of Alwar, the lake is a famous picnic spot. Siliserh Lake on the edge of Sariska Tiger Reserve, has a large number of crocodiles. The lake houses a Palace. Paddling a boat around the lake with the palace view can be mind soothing. There is no entrance fee, however boating charges vary. The lake is open from 5 AM to 8 PM.

5. Garbhaji Falls

Waterfall used by the army for altitude training is 10 km (6 mi) away from Siliserh Lake. Trekking to the waterfall triggers your adrenaline and the sight of water flowing through the rock terrain is beautiful. There is no entry fee and is open to tourists from 10 AM to 8 PM. Showering under the waterfall can be refreshing.

6. Chand Baori Stepwell

Built a thousand years ago to conserve water, this is one of the deepest and largest stepwells in India, also a spot you cannot miss during Delhi to Jaipur road trip. This is at a distance of 100 km (62 mi) from Jaipur. The stepwell with 35,000 steps on 13 levels gets narrow as it goes down. The corridors are full of excavated artifacts and sculptures. The stories about the place being haunted invite a lot of curious tourists. Haunted or not, the symmetrical structure catches your attention and leaves you in awe. In the same complex, there is a Harshat Mata Temple.

7. Sariska Tiger Reserve

Haven for tigers, this place has a varied flora and fauna. Entry fee for Indians is Rs. 80 while for foreigners it is Rs. 470. Jeep safari and Canter Safari are available in Sariska Tiger Reserve. The timings for Safari is 6 AM to 10 PM and 2 PM to 6 PM.  Sighting a tiger can be rare but leopard, sambhar, wild boar, four-horned antelope, langur and jungle cats are common.

8. Bhangarh Fort

Located 235 km (146 mi) from Delhi, 84 km (52 mi) from Jaipur, the fort is considered to be the most haunted place in India. A drive to the hauntingly beautiful fort can be eerie. It is deserted and surrounded by inhabited villages and ruins. This is the best place to visit if you are eager to experience some supernatural activity. There is a temple and a stepwell inside the fort that makes it serene. The entry to the fort is prohibited before sunrise and after sunset. For Indian tourists, the ticket price is Rs. 40 while it is Rs. 200 for foreigners.

9. Elephant Village

A government-owned place located 18 km (11 mi) from Jaipur, famous for its Elephant Safari draws a lot of tourists. Activities like bathing elephants, feeding, and painting them are the fun activities at the farm. One should not expect elephant ride as the elephants as this is not the right place to ask for it.

10. Nahargarh Biological Park

Situated 12 km (7.5 mi) away from Jaipur, the park is a natural habitat to a plethora of flora and fauna. Asicatic lions and tigers make this place more special along with a wide variety of plant species and wild animals.  The park is open to visitors from 8:30 AM to 5 PM and is closed on Tuesdays. The entry fee costs about Rs. 20 to Indians and Rs. 300 to foreigners.
