Tsutenkaku
Shinsekai refers to the street on the west of Tennoji Temple. It is featured by countless skewer stores, like Yaekatsu, Kushikatsu Daruma, and Tengu. The high tower Tsutenkaku is the landmark of the area, which has an outdoor observation deck for visitors to overlook the surroundings.

1. Climb the Tsutenkaku to Appreciate the Street View
Tsutenkaku is a tower of about 108 meters (354 feet) high and modeled after the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The tower is divided into 7 floors: B1F, 2F, 3F, 3RF, 4F, 5F, and 5RF and hosts three different observation decks on 4F, 5F and 5RF. The fourth floor is the Observatory of Light, displaying delicate glassware and the lights here keep changing colors to create beautiful scenes. The fifth floor is the Golden Observation Deck and the whole deck is golden and you can watch the golden Billiken mascot. The top floor consists of an outdoor observation deck "Tembo Paradise" and a jumping observation deck "TIP THE TSUTENKAKU". You can enjoy the view of Osaka and feel the breeze there. Besides, the light of Tsutenkaku implies the weather of Osaka the following day. For instance, red light stands for the overcast sky, and blue light forecasts a rainy day.
Opening Time: The observation decks usually open from 10:00 to 20:00, except the outdoor observation deck, which opens from 10:00 to 19:50. Ticket: 900 yen, and you need to pay an extra 500 yen for the outdoor observation deck.

2. Enjoy the Delicious Skewers
Skewers are specialties of the Tsutenkaku and you will find a wide variety of skewers stores. In order to ensure food hygiene, almost all skewer stores in Japan have a taboo: Do not dip the sauce twice with the same skewer. Yaekatsu: It is an old store with a history of 50 years, and it provides fresh vegetables, seafood, and meat. You are not allowed to take photos in the store. The price of each vegetable skewer is about 150 yen, and each seafood and meat skewer generally costs over 300 yen. It is open from 10:30 to 22:30 and closed on Tuesdays. Kushikatsu Daruma: There are four Kushikatsu Daruma stores in the Shinsekai, and the main shop is the most popular. There is a wide variety of skewers, and each store has a unique skewers set. Besides, it offers various beer, sake, and other drinks. It is open from 11:00 to 22:30. Yokozuna Tsutenkaku: It is a store with a traditional Japanese furnishing style, and it provides skewers, fried noodles, ramen, and egg bun rice. You must order at least a cup of drink in the store or you are not allowed to order other food. It is open 24 hours. Tengu: It is a star store that sells skewers and Doteyaki. There are several shooting stores in Shinsekai, and one of the most famous is Nihon’ichi Shateki Hihōkan, which is the biggest shooting store in Japan. You can try to shoot the gifts on the shelf. It may be difficult for you to win some large gifts, but you can win some small gifts, like candy.
4. Appreciate a Show in Asahi Theater
Asahi Theater is an old drama theatre that can accommodate 300 people, and you can appreciate the great drama that is performed by the different troupes from Japan. A show usually lasts for about two hours. Daytime show begins at 12:00 and night show starts at 17:30. The entrance fee is generally about 2,300 yen. After visiting Shinsekai & Tsutenkaku, you can walk to the nearby Tenonji Zoo to watch about 1,000 animals with about 230 species. Beyond that, you can have a rest and enjoy the natural scenery in Tenonji Park.
