Based on last five years’ meteorological data, the highest temperature in August once peaked 36 degrees Celsius (97 degrees Fahrenheit). Besides, influenced by global warming, high-heat weather in Sapporo becomes more frequent during summer period.  Upper clothing: Breathable and lightweight T-shirts are ideal for hot and humid weather in Sapporo. Don’t forget to pack a light jacket to keep warm in early mornings and at night and sun-protective around noon.  

 Bottom clothing: It’s advisable to wear shorts and summer pants. Girls can wear dresses or skirts in accord with the summer vibe.

The must-see highlight is the Susukino Festival, held from 7th to 9th in August, celebrated with geisha parades and traditional cultural performances. 

At Odori Park, don’t miss the Bon Dance events, where both locals and visitors dance together. Wearing a yukata is highly recommended to soak up the festive atmosphere.
