Croc Farm
Croc Farm, 3 kilometers (2 miles) from the Antananarivo Ivato Airport, is the only crocodile farm with special permission to raise crocodiles in Madagascar and use crocodiles for commercial purposes. Here, you can enjoy a wonderful crocodile feeding performance, watch crocodiles in different daily activities, and also taste food made from crocodile meat. With a diverse ecosystem, the Croc Farm further features many endemic plants and animals such as Kalanchoe, lizards, and chameleons. More than 1,000 crocodiles of many species are raised on the farm. Among all the species, the Nile crocodile and Croc Mada are the most characteristic. As the largest crocodile in Africa, the Nile crocodile is fierce and has a strong ability to adapt to different living conditions. It can dig a hole with its snout or leg to stay out of harsh environments. Croc Mada is a nickname called by local people, and the largest Croc Mada can even have a length of 7 meters (7.5 yards).

Best Site in the Farm to View Crocodiles
A wooden pavilion is built in the center of the lake on the farm. Plenty of crocodiles are under the pavilion and you can observe crocodiles at a close distance. At about 3 p.m. every day, an amazing crocodile feeding performance is hosted and you can see that crocodiles pop their heads from the water and fight for food, making splashes of lake water.Best Time to Visit Croc Farm

Throughout the year, the drought season from May to October is more suitable for you to view crocodiles here.
Dare You Try Crocodile Meat?
At the end of the tour path lies a restaurant featuring food made from crocodile meat. The meals offered by the restaurant include appetizers, main courses, and desserts, and they cost from 5,000 to 25,000 MGA. The diverse ecosystem of the Croc Farm also provides a comfortable home for plants and animals endemic to Madagascar. Plants including Kalanchoe and Euphorbia pekinensis blossom on the farm. Animals including lizards, tortoises, snakes, and chameleons can be seen. You can feed them and take photos when they get the food. The lake also offers a natural habitat to various water birds. They stay in the trees around the lake and you can hear melodious birdsong at sunset.

Tip:
The Croc Farm is very close to the Antananarivo Ivato Airport and it only takes 12 minutes to get to the airport by taxi, so the farm is suitable to be the last stop of your tour before you leave Madagascar from the airport.Opening Hours: 9:00-17:00, closed on June 26 (Independence Day), December 25 (Christmas Day), and January 1 and 2 (New Year’s Day)
Recommended Visiting Duration: 2 hours, and if you pay 45,000 MGA for the hiking activity held by the farm, another 4 hours is required.

Other Notes: A boutique is open near the entrance of the Croc Farm, and you can buy artifacts made from crocodiles and some special T-shirts as souvenirs of this tour.
