Lemurs' Park
Located about 20 kilometers (12 miles) west of Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar, the Lemurs’ Park is one of the best choices for tourists to view lemurs in the capital region. On the bank of the Katsaoka River, the park provides a tranquil and safe home for cute lemurs which are characteristic animals of the country. With different living habits and appearances, all the lemurs coexist in the park and await tourists worldwide. Lemur catta features a long tail with 11 to 12 staggered white and black rings and has dark grey and black fur on its body. They have plenty of ways to make a sound for gathering or danger warnings. Variegate has white fur on its neck, back, and limbs and black fur on its tail. Its eyes look golden. Four species of lemurs in the park are nocturnal, and they sleep in the daytime and begin their daily life at dusk.

In the designated area of the park, tourists can feed lemurs in the morning period and have closer experience with them. The park further provides viewing services on canoes, and you take a canoe to an island and enjoy special interactions with lemurs there.

Best Time to View Lemurs

Throughout the whole year in Antananarivo, the dry season from May to October is the most proper period to view lemurs, because rainy days make it not that convenient to walk around in the woods and lemurs are more active in good weather.
Other Plants and Animals to See in Lemurs’ Park
The park also features other luxuriant plants and typical animals of more than 70 species. You can find mini baobabs, jade green cactuses, and strong bamboo. The comfortable environment further attracts animals including tortoises, foxes, chameleons, and lizards to take the park as their home. Water birds are also an essential part of the park’s ecosystem, and you can watch them at a close distance and enjoy the harmonious ecological scenery.

How to Get to Lemurs’ Park
By taxi, it takes about 1 hour to get here from downtown Antananarivo. From a station called PK 3, you can easily hail a taxi to get to the park. After your tour is finished, you can go to the opposite side of the road on which you get out of a taxi, and take a taxi to go back to the downtown. A single-way taxi ride costs about 3,000 MGA and a round-trip one costs about 9,000 MGA.Opening Hours: 09:00-16:00.
Recommended Visiting Duration: 2 hours.
Ticket Fare: 70,000 MGA, and a guide service is included but a tip for the tour guide is not included.
Other Notes: Restaurants and souvenir shops are open in the park.
