Famadihana

Famadihana is one of the major religious festivals in Madagascar. It usually starts in June and lasts for three months. During this period, Madagascar people exhume their deceased family members from graves, rewrap them in shrouds and then bury them again. The ritual is called “the turning of the bones”. And they pay tribute to their ancestors by conducting parades and ritual dance. However, this ceremony is held every seven years.
