After breakfast, our guide and the driver will pick you up and drive to today’s first destination, Wat Traimit Withayaram Worawihan. This temple houses a huge golden Buddha statue, said to be crafted from 5.5 tons of pure gold. Explore the exhibition hall to uncover the statue’s legendary past, which closely mirrors Thai history. Next, we will visit Wat Pho, the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok. The striking Buddha statue in a reclining posture represents nirvana in Buddhism. Follow our guide to observe it from various angles. Additionally, Wat Pho is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage, and you’ll find a massage school within the temple.

Then follow our guide to walk 5 minutes north to one of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks, the Grand Palace, an ancient palace and temple complex built for members of the Thai royal family, but the main buildings of the palace are not open to the public. We’ll focus on exploring temples here, especially Wat Phra Kaew. It is north of the Grand Palace, and houses a stunning precious emerald Buddha statue carved out of a single piece of jade.

In the afternoon, you will be guided to hop on a long-tail boat to experience a 1-hour Chao Phraya River cruise. Iconic landscapes such as the Grand Palace and the impressive Buddha statue at Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen will unfold in front of your eyes. And the boatman will make timely stops for you to snap pictures. The boat will pass through the residential areas along the river, where the distinctive water houses reveal the real local life.
Tips: 
1. It is highly recommended to sit at the bow for a panoramic view and great photos;
2. The boatmen may offer you a blessing garland for a charge of THB 20. Feel free to decline if you are not interested in it.

Today’s Bangkok downtown trip will be completed at the magnificent riverside Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn), which is famous for its characteristic 79-meter (259-foot) high Angkorian-style pagoda. Climb to the middle level for spectacular views along the Chao Phraya River, but remember to tread carefully on the steep steps. Finally, our guide and the driver will escort you back to the hotel.

In the morning, we’ll head north from Bangkok to Ayutthaya in an hour, the ancient capital of Siam and a cherished UNESCO World Heritage Site. Boasting many top-notch temples, Ayutthaya offers you a more serene and less crowded atmosphere compared to Bangkok. On the way, we will stop at Bang Pa-in Palace, the former summer retreat of the Siamese royalty. Our guide will take you through this massive palace complex, which combines Thai, Chinese and Gothic architectural styles. As a royal site, it has a strict dress code. Be sure to wear trousers or a long dress. As a typical Gothic-style temple in the palace, Wat Niwet Thammaprawat sits beautifully on an island in the center of the river. Buddha statues and church-like altars harmoniously coexist inside, revealing a unique blend of art and religion.

At noon, we will have a Thai lunch at a local specialty restaurant. In the afternoon, continue our tour of Ayutthaya by heading north along the Chao Phraya River.

► Wat Mahathat: Marvel at the Eternal Smile of Ancient Ayutthaya
After a half-hour drive, we will arrive at Wat Mahathat, where the iconic symbol of Ayutthaya awaits. A head of Buddha appears here in an incredible way because it is wrapped in the root of a Bodhi tree! According to the legend, this head rolled to the tree’s base after being severed during a war. Over centuries, nature has embraced and protected the head, creating such a breathtaking sight that is considered a lucky Buddhist symbol. Time permitting, we’ll explore more temples and monuments, such as the Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon.
Tip: Please sit down and keep your head lower than the Buddha statue to show respect when taking photos.

In the late afternoon, we will leave Ayutthaya. Our guide and the driver will take you to Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok for your 1.5-hour flight to Chiang Rai. After arrival, you’ll be escorted to our well-selected hotel in Chiang Rai.

After breakfast, we will venture to the storied Golden Triangle with a 1-hour drive, where Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand meet. This region carries a complex history, once controversial for the blooming poppy flowers. Today, however, it has been transformed into a hub of coffee plantations, where the delightful aroma of Arabica coffee fills the air. A variety of unique coffee shops are scattered throughout Chiang Rai, creating a vibrant coffee culture.

Upon arrival, jump on a long-tail boat for a closer look at the magical confluence where three countries’ rivers meet! You’ll glide through lush tropical forests and gaze at mist-laden mountains in the distance while listening to the legendary tales that once swirled in the swift and deep undercurrents for centuries shared by our guide. On the Laotian side, a new city is emerging, featuring luxurious hotels, casinos, and modern apartments that contrast with the river backdrop. 

Your adventure continues to the Hall of Opium Museum, where a corridor over 130 meters (427 feet) long narrates the history of opium development around the world, from how Indians extracted opium from poppies to how the British utilized it as medicine. Next, immerse yourself in the unique tribal cultures of the Akha and Yao Tribal Villages. As you step into the Akha village, you’ll marvel at the red spirit gate, which serves to separate the spirit world from the human world and drive away evil spirits according to local beliefs. The Yao Hill tribe once lived a nomadic life, so their houses were mostly built with bamboo for easy relocation, maintaining rustic charm. At dusk, we will return to the hotel for another night in Chiang Rai.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, and then we’ll drive 3.5 hours to Chiang Mai. Along the way, stop to visit Wat Rong Khun, also called the White Temple. Be prepared - grab your sunglasses! You’ll be struck by its brilliant white appearance, sparkling with tens of thousands of mirror fragments.

Before visiting the ordination hall, our guide will lead you through the Bridge of Rebirth, inviting you to enter a realm of profound spirituality by leaving all worldly temptations behind. As we cross the bridge, take a moment to reflect on your desires and thoughts. Don’t miss the sculptures of struggling hands on both sides, reminding you of the horrible results of giving in to desire. Our final destination is “heaven”, along the path to a happy life, where spiritual purification and ascension await you as you walk through the material world to the ethereal one. This sacred journey cannot be reversed, as looking back would draw you into “hell,” where past desires linger. Get ready to be inspired by Wat Rong Khun during this immersive experience.

Then we’ll continue our journey, passing by the Mae Kajan Hot Spring, a great place to have a short rest. Dip your feet in the warm water, or enjoy the wonderful taste of hot spring-boiled eggs.

In the afternoon, head for our destination, Chiang Mai. Upon arrival, we’ll visit Wat Jed Yod, a temple with a history of over 500 years. The main stupa features seven spires, symbolizing the seven weeks that Buddha spent meditating after his Enlightenment. The next stop is Wat Suan Dok, where more than 100 white pagodas scattered within it will catch your eyes. They served as the mausoleums of the Chiang Mai royal family. Finally, we will arrive at a selected hotel in Chiang Mai, where you will spend two nights. Have a good rest or walk around the neighborhood by yourself.

No trip to Chiang Mai is complete without savoring its curry noodles (Khao Soi). Traditionally, noodles are served with yellow curry, and topped with ingredients like onions. Nowadays, innovative ingredients such as green curry and Sai Oua sausage have been introduced. One popular spot to enjoy this dish is Kao Soy Nimman, located in the One Nimman Mall. The restaurant opens from 10:00-21:00, and it is better to arrive early to avoid long lines. Afterward, you can also sample other Chiang Mai specialties, such as grilled fish, at the night market nearby.

Today’s guided tour will begin at Warorot Market, a bustling indoor market rich in Chinese elements due to over a century of trade by the Chinese community. As you step inside, the first floor undoubtedly show the pulse of this market. Vendors call out to passersby, trying to catch their attention to the dried fruits, spices, candies and other unique souvenirs. Don’t hesitate to wander from stall to stall, because tasting samples are encouraged here! Savor a cup of local lemongrass tea here if interested.
Tip: When buying packaged products, gauge their weight in your hands first to avoid scams as some retailers may add desiccant to increase the weight. Bulk items weighed on-site are much better.

★ Exclusive Experience: Take a Rickshaw Ride
Next, take our specially arranged rickshaw to glimpse the ancient streets of Chiang Mai. Witness the city come alive with those alleys and markets and absorb the carefree atmosphere.

The rickshaw will drive you to the Tha Pae Gate. Flocks of pigeons live under the crimson brick walls, and why not invite the guide to record your interactions with those lovely birds? Our next stop is the Three Kings Monument, built to honor the three most significant kings of the Lanna Kingdom (1259-1317). After that, we’ll visit Wat Chedi Luang, appreciating its Angkor-style main stupa. There is a Monk Chat session from 9:00-17:00 every day, providing a chance to delve into their lifestyle and Buddhist belief. You may engage in a meaningful conversation with them to seek wisdom on various life topics. Following that, the guide will lead you to a solemn shrine, Wat Phra Singh, one of the oldest and largest temples in Chiang Mai. Locals get together here to celebrate the Songkran Festival (Water Festival) held from April 13 to 15. They exchange warm wishes for the next year by splashing water on each other. Today’s tour will end at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. At first glance, you will be struck by the 306 steps leading up to its main hall, which symbolizes the sacred journey to heaven in Buddhism. Climb the steps or take the cable car up with our all-inclusive tickets. At the back left side of the temple is an observation deck where you can enjoy a stunning sunset. Then you’ll be transferred back to the hotel.

If your visit falls on a Sunday, you can explore the Sunday night market, which is the largest in Chiang Mai, open from 17:00 to 22:00. Please Note: The flights from Phuket to Bangkok will land at either Suvarnabhumi Airport or Don Mueang International Airport. Please check which airport your connecting flight to your home or next destination is departing from. The drive between the two airports takes around 40-50 minutes, so leave at least one hour for your transfer. To ensure a seamless transfer, it is best to schedule your flight out of Bangkok in the late afternoon or evening.

► Transport Tips: 
You can take a free shuttle bus between the two airports, which runs every 12 minutes at 08:00-11:00 and 16:00-19:00. During 05:00-08:00, 11:00-16:00, and 19:00-24:00, the bus departs every 30 minutes. To board the bus, you need to register with your passport and e-ticket for the connecting flight, at the AOT counter outside Gate 3 on the second floor of Suvarnabhumi Airport or Gate 6 on the first floor of Don Mueang Airport.
