Day 2: Bangkok: Wat Pho, Grand Palace, Chinatown, and Chao Phraya River Cruise
After breakfast, our first stop today is Wat Pho, home to the world’s largest reclining Buddha statue. You may hear the melodious sound of monks chanting their morning prayers. After that, the guide will lead you to the nearby Grand Palace, a symbol of Thailand. This extraordinary complex was designed as a royal residence. Over the years, many attached temple buildings have been constructed gradually, and the guide will show you around Wat Phra Kaew where the revered Emerald Buddha statue is. When visiting the Royal Pantheon inside the Grand Palace, ladies are required to wear long dresses, while men should wear long trousers, except for jeans. In other sightseeing areas, please avoid tank tops, sleeveless tops, and shorts. Also, you can admire a spectacular panorama of the city at the viewing platform. Next, we will head to Wat Chantaram (Wat Tha Sung). One of the museum’s most valuable treasures is the stone stele bearing King Ramkhamhaeng’s manuscript, regarded as the oldest example of Thai writing. You can learn more about the development of Thai script from the adjacent information wall. Next, we will visit Sukhothai Historical Park across from the museum, embarking on a journey through Thailand’s First Kingdom. This is your last day in Koh Samui, and you can still schedule activities according to your interests. If you want a mild way, rent a motorcycle and ride down to the beach to visit the temples. The Wat Plai Laem is quite secluded, with an impressive 18-armed statue of the goddess Guanyin. Not far away is the Big Buddha, a temple jutting out into the sea with a huge golden Buddha statue. Or have a day trip by speedboat to the Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan. Koh Tao, a turtle-shaped island, is renowned as one of the world’s top ten diving heavens. You will be surrounded by lovely clownfish and turtles when snorkeling or diving around Ao Muang spot. If your visit falls in April or May, keep your eyes peeled for baby sharks gathering near the Aow Leuk dive site! Koh Nang Yuan is another island perfect for snorkeling, where you can admire giant coral reefs and schools of barracudas at Japanese Gardens spot. Day 15: Fly to Bangkok, Airport See-off
After breakfast, our driver will escort you to the airport for a 1-hour flight to Bangkok. Wish you a happy return trip! Please Note: The flight from Koh Samui to Bangkok will land at either Suvarnabhumi or Don Muang International Airport. Given that there is a 50-minute car ride between the two airports, please check the departure location of your connecting flight and leave at least one hour to transfer. With your passport and e-ticket for the connecting flight, you can take a free shuttle bus at two airports. Also, we would like to offer the transfer service at an extra cost.
