Every year on February 2nd, sacrificial rituals would be held in Hakone Shrine to wish for good luck and get rid of evil. In addition, you can also watch the grand firework shows on 1st and 3rd at around 19:30.

1. Is Hakone colder than Tokyo in February?

Apart from Hakone Yumoto on the mountain foot, most areas in Hakone is about 3 - 4 degrees Celsius (37.4 - 39.2℉) colder than Tokyo. Visitors planning to do Hakone trip from Tokyo should pack thicker clothes.

2. Is Hakone crowded in February?

According to the official record, February, along with January, are the least crowded time in the whole year. The price of hotel rooms is comparatively lower than in other months, so it is a good time for travelers with limited budget.
