Jaipur, very much popular as ‘the Pink City’ has thousands of travelers every day urging to explore the architectural wonders, forts, palaces and gardens of this city. There are three railway stations in Jaipur - Jaipur Junction Railway Station, Gandhinagar Jaipur Railway Station, and Durgapura Railway Station.

Jaipur Junction Railway Station, also Jaipur Railway Station, being the nerve center and center of operations for the North Western Railwa, is the main railway station in Jaipur. Jaipur Railway Station, in the Hasanpura region of Jaipur, has an elementary design of a long horizontal stretch of a mini palace or fort-like structure as distinctly visible from the main entrance. It has a glittering light display in the dark with the basic blend of lustrous pinkish appearance, indicative of the ‘Pink City’ that it is.

The North Western Railway, established in 2002, as a separate branch from the stratum of Northern and Western Railways. So, Jaipur and Ajmer have been under the northwestern department. The Gandhinagar Jaipur Railway Station, situated in the Bajaj Nagar of the city is at a distance of 9.5 km (6mi) from Jaipur Junction Railway station and is the center for the southern zones of the area of Jaipur. Durgapura Railway Station, at 8 km (5mi) from Jaipur Railway Station, is also a part of the North-Western line and ranked as one of the cleanest stations.

The railway station code for Jaipur is ‘JP’ and the railway station has seven platforms, which are giving the numbering as - 1, 2, 2A, 3A, 3, 4 and 5. Inaugurated in 1895, Jaipur Junction Railway Station, is the ardent reflection of the cultural and architectural heritage ensembled in the city and is serving the commuters for about 125 years now. The station is inter-linked via the railway network to different cities and states by both the meter gauge and broad gauge. Around 88 trains with broad gauge and 22 trains with meter gauge travelling through the Jaipur Junction Railway station, making it the largest station in Jaipur with the busiest railway operating center in Rajasthan.

The trains are daily mail or express trains which complete the journey on a regular basis.

The city of Jaipur has an extensive network of buses operating under a body in Rajasthan State Transport Corporation called Jaipur City Transport Services Limited. And, apart from the public bus services, there are private A/C and non-A/C buses operating. Apart from the buses, the city also has a small metro line running on a radius of 10 km (6.2mi).

The nearest bus station to the Jaipur Railway Station is the Sindhi Camp bus station which is at a distance of around 2-3 km (1.2-1.9mi) from the station. The Jaipur Railway Station has access to the metro line by the metro stop - Railway Station connecting it. Rickshaws are available on private or sharing basis to travel to and from the regions of the city.
