The temperature in April generally shows a slowly increasing trend. However, the first half of the month is often still cold, with maximums generally ranging from 8-16°C (46.4-60.8℉) and minimums between 4-10°C (39.2-50℉). In some years, the lowest temperature dropped to around 0°C (32℉). Therefore, it’s best to dress warmly. The second half of the month will noticeably warm up, with daytime temperatures generally ranging from 14-22°C (57.2-71.6℉), sometimes reaching as high as 25°C (77℉) on sunny days. At night, temperatures drop by around 4-8°C, so add layers of clothing to avoid catching a cold. Of course, the climate in this month varies from year to year. It is also helpful if you happen to encounter overcast days during your trip. In sunny days mostly, you can wear a long-sleeved shirt plus a hoodie.

Bottoms
Regarding lower body, it is advisable to bring thicker ones like slacks for cold days and thinner ones like jeans for warm days. Knitted skirts are suitable for female tourists this month, just remember to wear a pair of warm tights.

Recommended Viewing Spots for Cherry Flowers in Sendai

1. You can go to Toshogu Shrine to enjoy the cherry blossoms. Every April in the middle of the month, the “Spring Festival” is held here, during which you can also enjoy interesting and lively activities such as shinto music performances. Besides, Tsutsujigaoka Park is also one of the popular spots for taking photos of cherry blossoms. At night, when the lights are on, the cherry blossoms look particularly romantic.
2. Hakishio Riverbank is truly an enchanting place for cherry blossom viewing in Sendai. It is renowned for its approximately eight-kilometer-long cherry blossom embankment road. On clear days, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery while having a picnic here, or stroll along the embankment and take wonderful photos.
