Kerala is a beautiful state of the Republic of India, located between the Lakshadweep Sea and the Western Ghats. Kerala Weather by Month
Winter in Kerala starts by the end of November and comes to an end by mid-February. The Kerala climate remains soothing throughout the season, and temperatures range between 23°C (73.4°F) to 30°C (86°F). Warm clothes such as sweaters or mufflers, along with daily wear, can help to fight slightly cold breezes of air that flows during this period. This season is considered as the best time to visit Kerala. Kochi, Munnar, Alleppey, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Thekkady are some of the most recommended cities or places to visit in this season. Kerala welcomes most number of tourists during these months so tourist places may be crowded. So be prepared for that.
One can start to feel a slight rise in temperature by the third week in February. Kerala climate touches its peak temperature during March. The temperature may rise maximum up to 35°C (95°F) and can fall to 24°C (75.2°F) during this season. Munnar and Wayanad being a hill station, are the best options to visit in summer also. Other than these two Periyar, Guruvayur, Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram are also some cities that can make your trip to Kerala in summer memorable. Light and airy shirts, pants, trousers, shorts made up of cotton can be the best option of clothes to wear in Kerala in hot Kerala weather. While travelling in summer, one should carry enough water always for drinking.
This land of culture witness two rainy seasons in a year, namely southwest monsoon (that begins around the end of May and lasts till the first week of September) and Northeast monsoon that starts by the end of the September and lasts until the fourth week of November). Kerala Weather remains wet during both these periods and experiences heavy rainfall. The average low and high temperatures during southwest monsoon is 24°C (75.2°F) -31°C (87.8°F), and northeast monsoon is 23°C (73.4°F) -31°C(87.8°F). Ashtamudi Lake, Alappuzha, Thekaddy, Kumakoram can be the ideal places to visit in Monsoon in Kerala. You can wear clothes as per your comfort, but raincoats, umbrella, and waterproof shoes are a must while exploring Kerala during these seasons.
