Located in tropical monsoon climate zone, Mumbai weather is hot all year round with the average temperature staying over 20℃ (67℉). Moreover, the Himalayas in the north act as a barrier to block the cold air from the north, making the temperature higher than that in the same latitude. Winter (November to next February or Mid-March)

It is the best travel season in Mumbai. During this period, the climate is pleasant, with the average temperature of 20-30℃ (68-86℉). But it is a little cold at night, with the lowest temperature decreasing to 10℃ (50℉). Some hotels are unable to provide hot water. Tourists could wear casual thin clothes when traveling during the day, and put on an overcoat and a pair of slacks at night. 


Summer (Early or Middle March to June)
The temperature goes to a peak between the Mid-March and June. The highest daytime temperature can reach over 40℃ (104℉), and the humidity reaches 70%-80%. Protect yourself well from the extremely hot weather in Mumbai if traveling outside.


Monsoon Season (June to August)
Generally speaking, the most precipitation in Mumbai occurs between July and August each year. The maximum monthly rainfall reaches nearly 1,000mm (39.4inches). During the rainy season, roads are muddy, and serious water accumulation leads to traffic paralysis, which brings great inconvenience to travelers. In addition, heavy rain could cause delays and cancellations of flights, trains and long-distance buses.


Post-Monsoon (September to October)
After the monsoon season, the rainfall gradually decreases. The city becomes clean and the air quality is much better. But you still need to take an umbrella with you because there is some rains in September. The temperature in September and October is not that high with average lowest temperature of 24℃ (75.2℉) and highest temperature of 33℃ (91.4℉).
