Nepal Weather in January

Kathmandu is a wonderful exotic city with so many Hindu temples and cultural relics. People can go to the Boudhanath Stupa, which is said to be the largest pagoda in the world located in the east of Kathmandu. Most of the believers who come to worship are Tibetan Buddhists from Nepal, Tibet and Buhtan. Kathmandu Durbar Square located in front of the old palace in the old town area is also worth visiting. The square is the main attraction of Kathmandu. It covers all kinds of classical buildings from the 16th to the 19th century.

Tip: There is no public toilet in the square. Avoid exposed clothing when you visit religious sites.

You can also visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square, which is the most spacious square among the three Durbar Squares of Nepal. It is rich in unique palaces, temples, pagodas and statues, so it is also called the Open-Air Museum. The temple of Nyapora to the east of the square is the iconic building; people can overlook the entire square stepping on it. To the south is the pottery plaza and residential areas.

Tip: The 2015 earthquake has inevitably caused great damage to the area, and you can still find repairing workers in the square.

Tourists can visit Chitwan National Park to enjoy the mild climate, clear sky, fresh air, and diverse flora and fauna. Located in the Rapti Valley, 120km (74.5 miles) from Kathmandu, it is the largest wildlife park in Nepal and one of the largest forest parks in Asia. This park is one of the last habitats of many endangered animals. Tourists can ride an elephant, watch the rare Indian rhinoceros, crocodile, one horned rhinos, etc inside the park.
