What to Bring to Visit Ulaanbaatar in July?

Upper body: It is suggested to wear T-shirts alone when conducting indoor activities and put on thin sunscreen coats when staying outside around noon. Prepare thick clothes for temperature drop at night, of which knitwear, denim jackets and trench coats are all good choices.

Lower body: Long and loose trousers like thin sweatpants and jeans are suitable for both grassland and downtown. Shorts work well only when visiting urban attractions and girl can choose skirts or dresses. 

Shoes: Normally, casual shoes like sneakers suits the temperature in July well. Or, you can choose to wear scandals to deal with the highly possible rainfall but they are recommended in urban areas only.

1. Rainboots are unnecessary in most time in July, but when encountering with consistent heavy rainfall, the drainage system in Ulaanbaatar might fail to function well, leaving lots of water on the streets. In this situation, you had better wear them when walking outside.
2. Avoid visiting the grassland after heavy rainfall, which turns muddy and takes one to two days to revive. You can choose to visit urban attractions instead, including Gandan Monastery, Genghis Khan Museum and Mongolia National Museum.
