July is one of the driest months in Kenya, with an average precipitation of only 51mm and 6 rainy days. It is also one of the coolest months of the year in Kenya; but the weather is not that cold due to its location near the equator. But the daily temperature difference is big, with the average temperatures ranging from 17 - 27°C (62.6 - 80.6°F). In some places, the minimum temperature can drop to around 10°C (50°F) after sun setting.
July is also the time when African beasts migrant from Tanzania to Kenya. Considering all these, it is one of the best months to visit Kenya. However, there is a surge in the number of tourists this month, hence, you definitely need to book your flights, accommodations, as well as find a good guide for your safari in advance. What to Wear and Pack
Daytime: Cool and breathable clothes such as shirts made of cotton and hemp fabric, thin T-shirts and light pants, as well as a light windbreaker are all acceptable for the daytime. For Safari, a comfortable pair of sneakers or walking shoes are essential; try to avoid wearing skirts. For beach trips, flip flops, beautiful beach dresses and beach-styled short sleeves are all great.
Night: With the nights being cooler and you may go on night safari, it is recommended to wear a thin jacket, a windbreaker, or a thin sweater. Sometimes, a thin down coat may be needed.
Accessories: Be sure to wear sunglasses and take sunscreen when you go out during the day. There’s a lot of wind and sand on Safari, so make sure you pack plenty of masks and take a thin breathable hat. As it’s dry in this month, it’s better to take enough skin cream and hand cream.
Tip: Clothes in earth tone are highly advised so as not to excite animals when you go on safari. And bring enough clothes for change after safari in the dusty wild.
Highlights in Kenya in July
Tourism Rate:
1. Great Migration
Being one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders, the Great Migration is no doubt the first and must thing to do when you come to Kenya. July is the very time when zebras, wildebeest and gazelles are migrating from Serengeti in Tanzania to Kenya’s Mara River. The best location to see the Great Migration is near the Mara River, and the Masai Mara National Reserve is definitely the best choice. In addition to off-road safari, hot air balloon safari, helicopter safari and night safari can bring you unique experiences.

2. Amboseli National Park
Kenya weather in July is mostly sunny, providing perfect conditions for a trip to Amboseli National Park. Have you ever seen the picture of herds of elephants roaming down Mount Kilimanjaro? Amboseli National Park is exactly where the photo was taken. Come and have a look in person. There are also other spectacular things to do here, such as standing on top of Observation Hill and appreciating the golden sunset over Amboseli, or watching the elephants rolling and frolicking in the marsh at Enkongo Narok.3. Ol-Pajeta Conservancy
The fine weather makes the Ol-Pajeta Conservancy another place to go. It is the largest nature reserve in northern Kenya, the largest black rhino reserve in East Africa, as well as the only place in Kenya where you can see gorillas and interact with them up close. And you can see the only two remaining white rhinos here. Also, if you fail to see all the “Big Five” of Africa in the Maasai Mara, Ol-Pajeta Conservancy is another place to catch up.
With little rainfall, the night safari during this month is highly recommended. It allows you to see many animals that you can’t see during the daytime.

4. Diani Beach
The sunny weather makes July a perfect time for a beach holiday. After catching up with the wild beasts on the Great Migration, how enjoyable to lie down on a soft beach to get relaxed! Mombasa’s Diani Beach is definitely not to be missed. If not very tired, you can play beach volleyball, go scuba diving and sea biking, and even go dolphin chasing. The sunrise and sunset over the sea are also splendid. Don’t miss it.
