Accessories: Rain gear is a must when you go on an outing. Although November is in the rainy season, there’s strong sunlight after the rain, so bring sun protections like sunglasses and sunscreen. In addition, outdoor sun hats, sports caps, wide-brimmed hats or kerchiefs can help protect you from the sun and wind. Scarves and a light cape help you withstand the temperature difference.
Top Places to Go in November
Tourism Rate:
1. Nairobi
Nairobi is a great place to go on a rainy November day. As the capital of Kenya, it has excellent infrastructure and is a combination of local culture and international atmosphere.
When the weather is fine, you can go to the Giraffe Park to observe the giraffes up close, as well as rhinos, hippos, baboons and other animals. Nairobi National Park is another must-go, whose one side is busy, bustling and lively modern city, and the other side remains primitive, home to the “Big Five” of Africa and some endangered wildlife. You can also go to the Animal Orphanage to see and even adopt animals that lost their parents or are disabled.

Come to Nairobi National Museum, one of Africa’s most famous museums, to see the prehistoric human fossils. Having a delicious roast feast on a rainy day is sure to bring a feeling of happiness. Carnivore, Kenya’s most famous meat buffet, can satisfy you.
2. Masai Mara National Reserve
Masai Mara National Reserve is a must-see in Kenya even in the off-season. If you’re not obsessed with the Great Migration, there are still plenty of local animals to see in November. You might see elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, hyenas, vultures, etc.
A hot air balloon tour in Masai Mara is very meaningful. In the early morning, overlooking the splendid land and watching the sunrise over the prairie from a hot air balloon must be the most amazing experience in your life. The weather in Masai Mara in November changes quickly, so bring a windbreaker.
3. Solio Rhino Conservancy
The black rhino is an endangered species. The hardest to see of the “Big Five” in Africa is the black rhino. But you will have more chances to see them in Kenya. According to a report in early 2024, Kenya’s black rhino population has recovered to nearly 1,000. And Solio Rhino Conservancy, a private reserve known for breeding rhinos is the best place to observe this rare species. And there are many white rhinos too. The conservancy provides a variety of unique safari such as hiking safari, and night safari.

Travel Tips
Some areas and roads may be blocked during the rainy season, so please check before travel.
The road conditions in some areas are not good in this month, and you’d better rent an off-road vehicle rather than a sedan for safaris. In addition, your vehicle may get stuck in the mud, so check the solution with the driver in advance to avoid spending a lot of time waiting for the repairing.
Avoid booking riverside hotels during the rainy season.
Malaria is rampant in rainy season, so a malaria vaccination is advised before visiting Kenya during this time.
