What to Wear and Take

1. Arusha National Park

In Arusha, the third largest city of Tanzania, there are lots of interesting projects, delicious local food and unique customs that are worth a day or two to explore, especially on rainy days when it is not so convenient for safaris.

Take a city walk from the Clock Tower in the center of the city to see Arusha’s oldest primary and secondary schools. Then come to the Arusha Museum, where various animal specimens are on display. And it will be a delight to go to the Masai Market to bargain for a piece of artwork made by the Masai people. The Arusha Arts and Culture Center is a place to admire local paintings, wood carvings and other works of art.

Tarangire National Park is an ideal place for safari even in the rainy season. Elephants, civets, mongooses are common residents here. With more than 500 species of birds, it’s also a great destination for bird enthusiasts. Moreover, this park is famous for the huge baobab trees, and you can even enter the holes in the middle of the trees to take a photo with them. But watch out for dangerous wild animals before getting out of your off-drive vehicle. On a clear night, don’t miss out on a night safari. There will be many unforgettable experiences of finding night animals in the moonlight.


3. Tanzania Union Day

Since 1964, April 26 has been Tanzania’s National Day, also called Tanzania Union Day. It commemorates the union of the two regions of Tanganyika and Zanzibar. Every year on this day, Tanzania people hold celebrations in the capital Dar es Salaam. A military parade is held. You can also see passionate traditional singing and dancing performed by more than 120 tribes of the country.
