Within a four-hour driving distance from Antananarivo City center, Andasibe National Park is one of the first five national nature reserves built in Madagascar. There are dense tropical forests, around 126 species of wild orchids, and diverse species of Madagascar’s typical animals. You may get so close to those fluffy little lemurs. However, touching wild lemurs without protection is somewhat dangerous and not suggested. Meanwhile, in the Crocodile Valley, visitors can overlook the giant Nile crocodiles from the observation deck.

2. Peyrieras Reserve:
Peyrieras Reserve is located along the road leading to Andasibe National Park. This is the best spot to drop by when heading to the national park. Visitors and photographers are able to get very close to the animals, mainly reptiles, in the reserve. It’s one of the top places near Antananarivo for tourists to see most of the representative tropical reptiles at once. Snakes, geckos, lizards, chameleons, and crocodiles are all raised here. You can even put the chameleons on your arms if you’re not scared.

3. The Royal Hill of Ambohimanga
The Royal Hill of Ambohimanga is perfect for visiting at any time of the year. Listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, it accommodates a series of royal buildings including royal palace and cemetery. It was mainly built by mud and bricks in the 17th century to serve as the residence of the Kingdom of Imerina.
