Recommended Clothing & Packing List:

Due to the large temperature difference during a day in November, it’s recommended that you bring both warm coats and light
summer clothes. For tops, a sweat-absorbing or quick-dry T-shirt or short-sleeved shirt will make you feel comfortable when traveling. Girls can just wear a dress. For bottoms, choose shorts or skirts if you can’t bear heat. Breathable flats can help you go through the long-time walking. It’s a must to put on a waistcoat or a jacket to keep you warm if you plan to travel outdoor in the evening.

An umbrella or a raincoat can be vital for your trip in Antananarivo in November since you may be caught in rain frequently. Besides, if you are going to expose to the sunshine for too long, your skin is supposed to get extra protection considering the strong ultraviolet rays in Antananarivo. Sunglasses, sunhats, and sunscreen are all great solutions.

Why Visit Antananarivo in November?

First, the rainy season just begins, so the rainfall is not too large to ruin your journey, but it is abundant enough to wake up the dry land along with the vigorous animals and plants living on it. Therefore, you can enjoy better views in October than in the dry season. Second, Antananarivo receives fewer tourists in October than in the peak season, so visitors don’t have to jostle each other in the crowds. Third, the prices of plane tickets and accommodations are cheaper, so you will save a lot of money. So, if you plan to go to Antananarivo in 2025, November can be a good option.

In addition, start your outdoor visit after checking the local weather forecast. Make sure you avoid the rainy period.

Where to Go in Antananarivo in November:

Tourism Rate:

1. Queen’s Palace

November’s frequent rain makes an indoor tour of the local landmark, Queen’s Palace, more attractive. If you’re interested in Madagascar’s history, then the Queen’s Palace is a must-visit attraction. Used to be the residence of Ranavalona I (1828-1861), the palace now has been reconstructed into a museum to display plenty of precious antiques, including some Malagasy traditional clothes and weapons. The renovated modern projection equipment in the museum also adds charm to this palace. Looked from the outside, the palace is splendid thanks to its quintessential 19th-century baroque style of construction. More importantly, you can have a whole view of Antananarivo on the observation deck in the palace.

3. Tsarasaotra Park

In November, the birds in Madagascar are laying eggs, so it is a perfect time to watch birds in Tsarasaotra Park. After all, the park is renowned for being a bird paradise in Antananarivo. It is not only home to the endangered Meller’s duck, Madagascan grebe, and the endemic Crested Drongo, but also their commoner counterparts: cattle egret and night heron. It’s unusual to see a vast number of birds gathering elsewhere in Antananarivo except for Tsarasaotra Park.
