However, the second half of October cannot be called as a typically good time to visit Olgii. First of all, the climate of Olgii at that time is neither pleasant nor stable for sightseeing and you need to deal with low temperature. Moreover, the natural view becomes no more vibrant; after middle October, you would find the grass and trees have withered and turned increasingly brown, thus presenting a bleak landscape. 

Tips for Dressing in October in Olgii

Upper body: Bottoming shirts become necessary to keep warm in October and then choose from hoodies, knit wear and sweaters as the middle layer. The outer layer should be windproof, so you had better prepare padded leather jackets, 3-in-1 windbreakers or down coats. Woolen coats with thin down vests are good matches as well.

Lower body: The best choice is to pack both windproof trousers like fleece-lined jeans or jacket pants and long johns since it is convenient for you to adjust the thickness, even though you might be not used to the long johns.

Shoes: You had better wear hiking boots or non-slip sneakers to deal with the frosted roads and grasslands in the morning. Besides, do choose comfortable and lighter ones since the trip involves long-distance walking.

Golden Falcon Festival, listed as the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, is held in Olgii once a year, usually at the first weekend of October. In 2026, it falls on October 3 to 4. During the festival, the eagle trainers dressed in traditional costumes provide visitors with exciting competitions and excellent performances together with their eagles. In addition, you can have close communication with them to know more about this ancient tradition and get close to the awesome eagles. If you are strong enough, you can own the special experience of having eagles standing on your forearms. 

Tips for Visiting Olgii in October

1. Golden Falcon Festival welcomes a large crowd of visitors but the festival tickets are limited. You had better book the tickets, hotels and air flights earlier so as to save more budget. If you don’t like the crowds, the small-scaled ones held in September in the suburbs of Olgii could be nice alternatives. 

2. Be sure to avoid wearing scarlet clothes when participating in the Golden Falcon Festival; otherwise, the eagles might mistake them as red meat, thus resulting in unexpected injuries.
